The “e-Pension” portal is an employee-centric initiative of Directorate of Pension, Provident Fund and Group Insurance, Finance Department, Government of West Bengal, to provide end-to-end solution to matters related with settlement of Pension and other retirement benefits to the employees of Institution receiving Grants from the State Government. This project covers all the stakeholders from applicant to Pension Disbursement Officer (Treasury Officers) under single portal leveraging the benefits of Information & Communication Technologies (ICT). The objective of the project is to improve efficiency, transparency and accountability resulting in faster delivery of services ensuring accountability to all the stakeholders with appropriate use of re-engineering of Government Business Processes.

Brief Background

i. Expedite the settlement of Pension Cases of the employees
ii. To make the entire lifecycle of application, processing, scrutiny and approval of Pension cases making it less cumbersome & easy
iii. To minimize physical movements of files and documents
iv. To minimize the personal visits of the employees / pensioners and their family members to various offices at districts and Kolkata
v. MIS facility and Real-time Reporting Mechanism for monitoring and decision making
vi. To develop a Comprehensive and Reliable Database
vii. To eliminate the chances of loss of files, documents, certificates, etc.
viii. To ensure better transparency and eliminate possibilities of rent-seeking
ix. To improve efficiency and faster flow of process without compromising on accountability
x. To enhance better working environment for the staff and officers involved in the processing of Pension cases at various offices across the state relieving them from the pain of repeated manual preparation of documents, verification of records and figures, retrieval of old / physical files
xi. To have least possible paper based transactions with minimal need for reconciliation
xii. To minimise the chances of errors leading to delay, over / under payment of benefits
xiii. To utilize the resources more optimally, particularly human resources
