Mukhyamantri Ladli Lakshmi Yojana  has been launched by the Government of Madhya Pradesh with the aim of creating positive thinking among the public towards the birth of girl children in the country, improving the sex ratio, improving the educational level and health status of girls, laying the foundation stone for their good future, and ensuring the all-round development of the girl child. Started in April 2007.

Brief Background

The Mukhyamantri Ladli Laxmi Yojana was launched by the Government of Madhya Pradesh in 2007 with the aim of improving the social and economic status of girls in the state. It was introduced in response to societal challenges like female infanticide, low literacy rates among girls, and early marriages. The scheme seeks to reduce gender disparity by encouraging families to value and invest in the education and welfare of their daughters.

Objective

The Mukhyamantri Ladli Laxmi Yojana aims to improve the status of girls in society by encouraging their education and reducing gender disparity. It provides financial assistance to families for the welfare and education of daughters. The scheme also promotes the importance of girls in society and aims to combat child marriage and discrimination.

Benefits

The benefits of the Mukhyamantri Ladli Laxmi Yojana include: Financial Support: A total of ₹1,43,000 is provided in installments for the girl's education and welfare from birth until adulthood. Educational Encouragement: Financial incentives are given at key stages of the girl's education, such as class 6th, 9th, 11th, and 12th, promoting continuous schooling and Graduation first and last year. Marriage Support: A lump sum of ₹1 lakh is provided when the girl turns 21, supporting her further education or marriage.

Implementation Methodology

The implementation methodology of the Mukhyamantri Ladli Laxmi Yojana involves: 1. Eligibility and Registration: Parents must register their daughter within one year of her birth, ensuring the family adheres to two-child norms and neither parent is income-tax liable. The application can be submitted online or at Anganwadi centers. 2. Financial Disbursements: After registration, the government deposited 6000 rupees till 5 yeras in the girl's name. These are disbursed in stages at key educational milestones, ensuring that funds are released based on the child's continued education. 3. *Monitoring and Conditions: The scheme is closely monitored through government agencies like the Department of Women and Child Development. Conditions like school enrollment and restrictions on early marriage (before 18) are imposed to ensure the girl benefits fully from the scheme.
