Brief Background
As envisaged by the Government of Assam, AMTRON was entrusted to design a solution for e-Ticketing for the Ferry Services run by the Inland Water Transport, Assam. In accordance to this, AMTRON was given only 7 days time to implement the same at Jorhat-Majuli Ghats. Thus, an e-Ticketing Portal www.asiwt.in and a corresponding Android APP was developed by AMTRON in a record time which is yet to be believed by all. Finally, the e-Ticketing system for IWT Ferry Services was successfully launched at Nimati Ghat, Jorhat Division on September 27, 2021 by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam.
Objective
Boat tragedies have become a common news in the State of Assam. Non-timely availability of emergency services and inability to track boats & vessels in such mishaps results in huge loss of life & property. This Proposal covers the requirement of the State to track the boats ferrying passengers & freight and provide for emergency service in case of such mishaps. Also, tracking is essential facility to provide value added services to Citizens. This proposal also includes Automated Ferry Intelligent Transport Management System to find, register & report Violations like Route Violation, Out of Bound, Diversions, and other issues.
Benefits
Ferry e-Ticket services is an end-to-end operational solution provided by AMTRON since September 2021 which enables multiple ticket generation facilities for availing ferry services through both online as well as offline modes. The process involves management of overall ferry operations by keeping their detailed records, operational status, cargo capacity, service/route information, tourist categories, tour packages, tariff plans, occupancy status, advance booking, on-site counter booking, partial/full cancellation with instant refunds, and re-scheduling of ferries/ trips, etc. which helps the Inland Water Transport, Assam to provide seamless ferry operations to the public taking into consideration safety of the passengers and also monitor the revenue collections in real time.
