The Department of Handlooms and Textiles is concerned with Handlooms Industry both within Cooperative and outside the cooperative fold, power looms both within cooperative and outside the cooperative fold and garmenting industry in the organized and decentralized sector and for setting up of Apparel and Textile Parks in the Garment sector. The Director of Handlooms and Textiles, Mangalagiri is entrusted with the responsibility of supervision over the working of Weavers Cooperative Societies (Cotton, Silk & Wool), Apex Societies, Power Looms Societies and Garment Societies, implementation of schemes relating to Handlooms and Power looms in the Cooperative and Decentralized sector and setting up of Apparel and Textile Parks in the Garment sector.
Project Details

Brief Background
Andhra Pradesh is a significant state in the Handloom Industry, with approximately 2,00,310 handloom weavers in the cooperative fold and 1,58,902 outside it. The state also has about 81,000 Powerlooms operating both within and outside the cooperative fold.
Objective
To promote the socio-economic development of Handloom Weavers in Andhra Pradesh through various schemes and initiatives.
Benefits
Implementation of Centrally Sponsored and State Schemes aimed at improving the livelihoods of handloom weavers, including those with matching contributions from Central and State Governments.
