Brief Background
In the Indian Constitution, OBCs are described as socially and educationally backward classes (SEBC), and the Government of India is enjoined to ensure their social and educational development — for example, the OBCs are entitled to 27% reservations in public sector employment and higher education
Objective
To educate, enlighten and empower the students of Other Backward Classes (OBC) to avail scholarships, adequate support and opportunities for the growth and development. To ensure equal opportunities for education of OBC students.
Benefits
Regarding seats in government posts (such as IAS, IPS, etc.) and government institutions, there is a 27% reservation quota (like the IIMs and IITs). There is a modification of the maximum age requirement for a number of exams, including the UPSC Civil Services Exam.
