The website udarunachal.gov.in serves as the official portal for the Department of Urban Development & Housing (UD&H) of Arunachal Pradesh. Established on April 4, 1995, the department functions as the nodal agency for formulating urban development policies, creating urban infrastructure, and implementing various poverty alleviation programs. In 2005, it was designated as a Works Department, and in 2021, it was renamed the Department of Urban Affairs, comprising four wings: Urban Development, Town Planning, Housing, and Urban Local Bodies.

Brief Background

The Department of Urban Development & Housing Arunachal Pradesh was created on 04.04.1995 vide order OM-1/95(pt) to function as Nodal Department for formulating policies of Urban Development activities creation of urban infrastructure implementation & monitoring of various poverty alleviation programme. The state Govt. has declared the Urban Development Department as Works Department on 2005. Today the Department is headed by a Chief Engineer with functional 28 (Twenty Eight) divisions throughout the state [Tawang Bomdila Seppa Capital Complex Itanagar Yupia Ziro Koloriang Palin Daporijo Basar Aalo Pasighat Boleng Yingkiong Roing Anini Tezu Hawai Namsai Changlang Jairampur Khonsa Longding Lemmi Raga Likabali and Tato].

Objective

1. Urban Infrastructure Development: Implement execute monitor and maintain physical and economic urban infrastructures such as roads bridges drainage systems sewerage parking facilities and public conveniences.
2. Social Urban Amenities: Develop and maintain community buildings shopping complexes parks playgrounds and sports facilities.
3. Urban Poverty Alleviation: Execute programs aimed at reducing urban poverty and improving living conditions in slum areas.
4. Public Health and Sanitation: Address matters related to public health sanitation and the regulation of facilities like slaughterhouses and tanneries.
