Mahasamund district is famous for its cultural history. This region was the capital of Dakshin Koshal ruled by Somvanshi Emperors it is also a centre of learning. There are a large number of temples here which always attract visitors due to their natural and aesthetic beauty. Fairs/festivals here have become a part of the life of the people. Sirpur of Dakshin Koshal i.e. present Chhattisgarh is situated on the top of all internationally famous historical sites.

Objective

Mahanadi River is a complete merger of culture and architecture. Earlier (at the time of Somvanshi emperors) Sirpur was known as Shripur and it was the capital of Dakshin Koshal. Sirpur has a very special position in the history of Indian art due to important and original experiments as well as religious spiritual knowledge and science values.
