Project Details

Brief Background
APGENCO was incorporated on December 29 1998 and commenced operations on February 1 1999. It is the third-largest power generating corporation in India with an installed capacity of 8 174.9 MW comprising 4 382.5 MW Thermal 2 MW Wind and 3 751.4 MW Hydro power stations.
Objective
To generate adequate and reliable power most economically efficiently and in an eco-friendly manner. APGENCO came into existence and commenced operations from 01.02.1999. This was a sequel to Governments reforms in Power Sector to unbundle the activities relating to Generation Transmission and Distribution of Power. All the Generating Stations owned by erstwhile APSEB were transferred to the control of APGENCO. After reorganisation of state of the Andhra Pradesh according to Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act 2014 the assets liabilities employees etc. of APGENCO are apportioned between the two successor states.
